Best Music Teacher – Paris

Recently, i was contacted by Expatriates Magazine because i was awarded the title of “Best Music Teacher” in Paris this year by popular vote. Woohoo!

Expatriates Magazine is a  print and digital publication distributed at over 200 locations around Paris and on their website. It has over 25,000 visitors per month to its website and 40,000 social media followers. There are dozens of different “Best of” awards that fall within 9 categories: Family, Education, Community, People, Style, Social, Going Out, Health, Food and Drink.

I can’t tell you how excited i was to get nominated late last year. Now, i’m humbled and honored to know that, at the end of the day, i got the most votes and the award! If you live in Paris and speak English, especially if you haven’t lived here very long, the associated “Expatriates in Paris” Facebook group is an essential place to get questions answered and meet new people.

Teaching, in general, has been a passion of mine since i was teaching band when i was 16 years old. You can read the story about how i became a music teacher here. Suffice it to say that i developed a “bug” for teaching and encouraging people to do things that they want to learn to do. It started with music but then i became a corporate manager and realized that i liked leading teams of people and helping them meet business goals together. Until today, where along with my piano students in Paris, i also help business owners learn how to do digital marketing. If they want, i can do it for them, but i also really enjoy teaching people how to promote their business online themselves.

Basically, i like learning new things and teaching those things to other people. i believe i can explain things in a way that people can understand and remember them. My philosophy as a teacher—music or business—is to teach myself out of a job. In other words, i want to teach you things but, more importantly, i want you to understand the “how” or “why” of how we got there.
